The Portland 420 Games was the third race on this year’s tour, and although it looked like we might get rained out, the weather held off, and it turned into another incredible day for all those who joined us at Sellwood Park. The crowd in Portland was alive with excitement as we gathered to celebrate awareness, and represent responsible use, joining together in The 420 Game’s mission to show that cannabis users are NOT lazy, unmotivated, or “stoners”, and to de-stigmatize the millions who use cannabis in a healthy and responsible lifestyle. We run, walk, bike, skateboard, and some even push their children in strollers or walk their pets for 4.2 miles at these events for those millions of people, and for...
Jim McAlpine and his team couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to host this year’s Seattle 420 Games. The Warren G Magnuson Park was a sunny paradise for all those who attended to aide in The 420 Games’s mission to forge a new outlook on cannabis, and a respect for cannabis users. With almost no clouds in the sky, there was absolutely none of Seattle’s notorious rain, making it the perfect day to participate in the nation’s first, and only, cannabis athletic event series!
Most 420 Games events start with a yoga warm up, but before we got our stretch on, we all took a moment to...
Sour Diesel. Blue Dream. Granddaddy Purple. OG Kush. Gorilla Glue. The list of strains available on the market is seemingly endless, and grows longer every day as growers cross breeds to create new ones. The selection of strains differs at each dispensary, but the problem remains the same, you still have to figure out which one to buy. With so many choices, this can be overwhelming, even for a veteran consumer like myself. That’s why...
How do you incorporate cannabis into your training? For those interested in learning how to include cannabis into their fitness regimen as part of a balanced, overall health and wellness routine, this is one of the most common questions that gets asked. I’m always happy to share my habits and routines, but it’s nice to get a few different perspectives. Today we’re going to touch base on how I use cannabis as part of my training program, followed up by recent testimonial from retired professional athletes like Bas Rutten, Eben Britton, and Eugene Monroe when they appeared as the sports panel for Green Flower Media’s Cannabis Health Summit this May. Then we’ll end on what this means for you, and...
Welcome all, to the CannaFitness weekly column, where you will learn all you need to know about cannabis and fitness, and get an exclusive inside look into this exciting emerging industry. Being a sponsored cannabis athlete myself, I know how fast CannaFitness is moving through the world. Even though the concept of using cannabis in association with athletics and fitness may seem new to most, I know first hand they’ve had a close relationship for a very long time. Only recently, in the past decade especially, has this topic slowly gained public momentum as the taboo and stigma of cannabis use has declined, resulting in more and more professional athletes, and everyday people, starting to share and be honest about their use of this incredible plant.
Hollywood has painted the picture of a pot smoker as...
We challenge ourselves to be active, not just outside or in the gym, but in many other ways. We actively use mobile apps to save money on our organic groceries. We actively earn rewards points and miles for free flights and hotel stays, and we’re always putting in effort to save money at dispensaries. The obvious recurring theme here is our frugality, which is something we’re quite proud of. This tendency causes us to seek out free events, both in and outside of our industry. It’s what led us to...
Have you ever been to a fitness class? Have you ever been to a fitness class, on weed? If you haven’t, now you can! The idea of incorporating marijuana into your fitness regimen as part of your overall health and wellness routine is rapidly growing. In states where marijuana is legal, we’re starting to see the rise of the CannaFitness industry, and with it, is the start of cannabis fitness classes. These are classes where you’re allowed to medicate on site, prior, and post training. For those of us who have experience, and already consume cannabis as part of our training, this isn’t anything new, but it provides us with a place to meet like minded people, have engaging conversations about some of our biggest passions, and elevate our minds and bodies through physical challenge.
As exciting as that is...
Professional athletes, and fitness enthusiasts, both know how important a role recovery plays as part of a successful training program. There are several ways you can encourage recovery, one of which is massage. The great thing is, you don’t need to be training like a professional athlete, or putting in gym time every day, to benefit from massage. The list of benefits seems to go on forever. It doesso much more than just ease pain, and relieve stress. It can help with symptoms of depression, reduce anxiety, and...
MJFITNUT was on the ground in Denver for the entire 4/20 week! The first three days were spent canvasing dispensaries in the area to help spread awareness about the 420 Games. All of the dispensaries we went to were so supportive. It’s incredible how supportive the entire cannabis community has been, in welcoming MJFITNUT. Our big event on the day of 4-20 was Denver’s 420 Rally.
This may have been our first 420 Rally, but the rally was started over 20 years ago, by a renowned cannabis activist, named Ken Gorman. It was originally created as an act of protest for the legalization of marijuana and hemp. What first began as official smoke-ins on the steps of Colorado’s Capital building to bring together activists, in hopes of making a difference, has since grown into...
After last weeks article on Elevated Eating, prepare yourself for some more mouthwatering photos of food today, although instead of in the kitchen with a private cannabis chef, we’ve been invited for BBQ at Fort Hale. This fort is not open to the public, and it is not a military base. The flag that flies high here is one of paradise, family, and sanctuary. It’s guarded securely by two United States Military Veterans, who know Fort Hale as...
