Marte' Hepburn is our February 2018 Athlete of the Month, and we couldn’t be more proud to have her support! Marte’ describes herself as a Senior Cannabis Athlete. She goes above and beyond to break more than just the stereotype of cannabis, but also the stigma of age slowing you down. In her 60’s, she’s out rock climbing, running marathons, and traveling the world!
In 2017 Marte’ set out with her daughter Lia to take on their own High Five Challenge. Their goal was 5 races, including a 5k, 4.2 miles, a 10k, and both a half and full marathon! In a written piece she wrote, “I trained for over 6 months; I ran 525 miles. And yes there was blood, sweat, and tears but there was also a deep satisfaction with my accomplishment”. She completed the entire race series, and even went on to take 1st on her age group at the full marathon!
This year, Marte’ and Lia have upgraded their High Five Challenge and are taking their race series international! They already have a 10K and half marathon planned in the United States and Canada respectively this summer, with a Central American race planned for the fall. The ultimate goal is to Race to Spannabis, to complete a full marathon in Barcelona that coincides with the annual Spannabis Cup, Europe’s largest and most popular cannabis celebration!

Marte’ is a true inspiration to us all, and we can’t thank her enough for all of her effort in changing the perception of cannabis, and what it means to be a senior! We look forward to her upcoming travels, and can’t wait to see what else she does this year! You can follow Marte’ and Lia on Facebook as they take their cannabis advocacy to the world stage!
